EKKO PROJECTS

We make choices every single day. Big and small. From the milk we drink to whom we live with. Some choices we regret. Others we may  not even know we made.

Have we replaced the solid traditions and clear political or religious affiliation with the idea of endless individual choice? And do we have choices that is actually free? The questions are many when it come to the matter of choice....

100 people 4-93 years, told us about a choice in their life. The essence of their stories become part of a collage that chased the ways and form of choice.

Why is art important? Or: is art important? Do we need art?  What is the motivation behind the people who work in the arts?

E.K.K.O spent March of 2013 in residence at Halka Art Project in Istanbul. Our objective with the residency was to get an insight on how our colleges in the arts - artists, art manages, art teachers and art students - work, think, make and live with art in Istanbul.

The residency is part of a larger project in which we are aiming to address the roles, functions and structures of art in contemporary society.

A performance for the 10 to 14 year-olds. FAR OUT premiered at the CARL FESTIVAL at Dansehallerne in December 2011.

FAR OUT is a noisy thriller about the unknown, about natural disasters in the night and our own vulnerability. FAR OUT is an up-tempo dance performance about the modern world and its meeting with nature. Dreams, hopes and disaster get all mingled up with one another. Inspired by the thriller genre, FAR OUT deals with the imagination – how bad things can get?

The strength of nature, frailty and beauty are put to the test – in a performance that brings us far out and up close.

Dancers: Carolina Bäckman, Simon Beyer-Pedersen, Andrea Deres and Anton Wretling

Set designer: Lisbeth Burian

A voyage of the senses for 2-6 year olds. The performance premiered at the CARL FESTIVAL in Dansehallerne in December 2011.

The elements are put into play and the seasons are changing. How does the body react when it is cold? Can you smell the rain and do you melt in the heat? Can snow dance? The theatre space sets the framework for reflection and a fascination with nature, through movements, sounds and images.

WHO COMES FIRST - SUMMER OR WINTER is a game about the changes of nature.

Dancers: Carolina Bäckman, Simon Beyer-Pedersen, Andrea Deres and Anton Wretling

Set designer: Lisbeth Burian
Composer: Mikkel Gemzøe
Production: Dansescenen
